Coined by Pablo Picasso at the beginning of the 20th century, the term collage - from the French coller, to glue - defines an art technique whose origins can be tracked back hundreds of years, becoming a distinctive part of modern art.
Collage art technique is still today an unexpected and surprising way to communicate, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. It may include magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas.
Enjoy FineDiningLovers collection of food inspired collages made by artists Beth Hoeckel, Eugenia Loli, Sammy Slabbinck and Melissa Gable. Pieces of art where everything is possible: a cake can turn into a boat or take place on a snowy mountain, tasty sandwiches are hidden in the fields and giant hamburgers appear in the wild savannah. Or maybe you can relax on the beach, with a piece of bacon as a blanket, enjoying the warmth of a fried egg sun.
