Hawaii has become the first State in the U.S. to ban the distribution of plastic bags inside grocery stores.
Many stores around the world now charge people for the reusable bags when checking out at the counter, an attempt to refuse the use of the environmental damage caused by plastic bags, but Hawaii has become the first place to pass actual legislation at a County level.
The problem with most plastic bags is that they aren’t biodegradable, taking years and years to break down and causing all sorts of damage to wildlife on the way.
This is another small step in the right direction towards phasing out the use of plastic bags in our grocery stores.
