Bangkok is preparing to raise the curtain on the fifth edition of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, with the full list being announced on 21 February 2017 at 8pm (1pm GMT) local time at the city's W Hotel, and live-streamed on Fine Dining Lovers.
It will be the second time the prestigious S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna-sponsored event, which names the best restaurants and chefs across Asia, has taken place in its new home in Thailand since its departure from Singapore.

Given the country’s rich culinary history, unique Thai hospitality and vibrant restaurant scene, Thailand is rightly regarded as one of the most celebrated food capitals of the world and an ideal host country for Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.”
The 2016 list saw Gaggan Anand's Gaggan snag the top spot for a second consecutive year, while Tokyo's Narisawa took second, retaining the same spot from 2015, and Restaurant André in Singapore was third. 10 new entries were also welcomed to the list, which showcased the best dining experiences in 13 Asian countries, more than ever before.
The programme will commence this year with a number of warm-up events scheduled for Monday 20 February, including the #50BestTalks event, a combination of local food discovery and interactive chef demonstrations exploring regional food trends and local Thai cooking techniques. The one-day curated forum will feature some of Asia’s most influential culinary leaders, including chefs from the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The evening before the awards ceremony will be an opportunity for the gathered chefs to get together and party before the big event, whilst the day after will see a celebratory brunch for the top 50 named restaurants.
While waiting for the list to be revealed, some special awards have been given in advance. May Chow has already been named as Asia's Best Female Chef 2017, credit to both her innovative spin on bao buns and string of successful eateries to her name.
Toc Toc restaurant in Seoul, Korea, run by Kim Dae-Chun has been picked as Asia’s One to Watch and is described by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants as offering “some of the most sophisticated cuisine in Seoul.”
Both recipients will collect their awards live at the ceremony on 21 February at the W Hotel in Bangkok during the fifth annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony.
