They say in Italy that "Nonna knows best" and this is never more true than when standing over boiling pots of food in the kitchen.
Everyone loves the warm taste of homemade nonna cooking and to put this idea to the test a restaurant in New York is employing grandmas do the cooking in the kitchen.
Jody Scaravella, owner of the Enoteca Maria in Staten Island, is serving a range of cuisine cooked by different grandmas from all over the world.
He says he started by placing an add for an Italian nonna to help with the cooking and the idea quickly expanded to include a mix of grandmas from all over the world.
At any one time there are two grandmas working in the kitchen, one from Italy and one from somewhere else in the world, including Poland, Syria, Nigeria and Venezuela.
