His new restaurant is called El Poblet, a name with a lot of history behind it. The name is a recycled one, so to speak, as it was the name of his first restaurant which he later rebranded as Quique DacostaRestaurante once he shot to international fame. ''El Poblet is my life, I created this brand, and with this name I avoid lenghty explanations,'' the chef said in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais.
Dacosta told El Pais that opening a new restaurant is a ''daring'' thing to do in this economic climate but he hopes that by serving affordable Michelin-quality cuisine he is ''democratizing'' haute cuisine.
El Poblet will serve some of Dacosta's signature recipes like Senia rice with eel stock and cherries. For those seeking a few extra culinary adventures (and pay a bit more) the restaurant offers a Grace Kelly menu for 30 euros ($38) and a Historical Degustation menu for 42 euros ($55).
El Poblet shares the kitchen with his restaurant Vuelve Carolina (which is located upstairs) and will be managed by Manuela Romeralo, Germán Carrizo, Carolina Lourenço and Luján Carnicer.
