One of Spain’s most celebrated chefs, Dani García oversees more than 20 restaurants across six countries. Casa Dani marks his latest U.S. venture, following the closure of the New York location in 2024. Backed by sbe’s Sam Nazarian, the concept has been reimagined at Westfield Century City. “This shopping center is a natural meeting point in Los Angeles,” García says. “It’s open, bright, and connected to the city. We wanted to be where the people live, move, and share.”
The 17,000-square-foot space, connected to neighboring Katsuya, features neutral tones, mid-century furnishings, and greenery throughout. While it shares similarities with the original New York location, the Los Angeles restaurant introduces more relaxed, bohemian accents. An open kitchen anchors the dining room, surrounded by displays of fresh seafood and shellfish on ice that highlight the restaurant’s focus on quality ingredients.
The menu draws from southern Spain, filtered through a contemporary Los Angeles lens. “Casa Dani is my way of bringing the south of Spain to Los Angeles,” García says. “It’s a warm place, where you eat well, drink well, and feel comfortable. No complications. No pretense, just like at home.” Tuna appears in several preparations, including croquettes with a crisp exterior and a bluefin tartare finished with basil oil. García’s signature tuna porterhouse carpaccio keeps the focus on the quality of the fish, served simply with soy sauce and olive oil.
Small plates such as Ibérico ham croquettes and grilled octopus highlight Spanish staples, but the paellas remain central to the menu. “I love the tortilla cremosa and tuna porterhouse, but all of our paellas are simply exquisite,” García says. “These are humble dishes that are full of flavor and memory.” In addition to classic chicken and seafood versions, Casa Dani also serves a ribeye paella topped with a 16-ounce Australian cut, along with a bone marrow and wagyu variation. The beverage program includes Spanish wines and cocktails such as a grapefruit-infused gin and tonic or a martini with olive oil, thyme, and peppercorn.
