The Expo Milano security team have been on high alert the past few days as the food loving first lady of America, Michelle Obama, came on an official Expo visit to Milan.
Her visit to the Italian fashion capital began with hosting a cooking demonstration inside the James Beard Foundation Restaurant in the centre of the city where she made a salad of lentils and rice.
Today the first lady will visit the main Expo site together with her two daughters and is expected to visit the USA Pavilion which is centred on the idea of American Food 2.0.
It’s the first major delegation from the USA to visit the Expo and shows the commitment the country has given to their pavilion and presence at the first ever Universal Exposition to focus specifically on food.
Michelle Obama’s visit to the Expo is timed perfectly for the launch of Women for Expo - a week long programme of events set to focus on the important role that women play in the food industry.
