After Dubai, Cape Town, London and New York, on 19 and 20 of July Athens hosted the fifth evening in the series Umami & sake dinners, inaugurated by the great Japanese chef, Nobu, a renowned master all over the world.
His restaurants Matsuhisa Athens and Athinorama Umami organised special dinners dedicated to discovering and tasting Umami (to see the menu and pairings click here).
The initiatives by Nobu, which follow his long research into the “fifth flavour”, will be repeated soon in Milan and Melbourne. Attending the event, along with the chef Nobu, there was the “Umami Mama” Kumiko Ninomiya, president of the Umami Information Center, and Hazu Fumio, the producer of the rare Hokusetsu sake.
The sommelier Paolo Basso, the 2010 European Champion, personally oversaw the pairings of the various dishes with the sakes and waters.
