TripAdvisor has announced its Travelers Choice Awards 2019 and lists the top ten restaurants in the world based on customer reviews on its platform.
The list is compiled by algorithm, analysing millions of customer’s reviews and opinions and places TRB Hutong in Beijing as number one. Second place is claimed by Epicure, inside the Bristol Hotel in Paris, and third goes to Ristorante Villa Crespi in Orta San Giulio, Italy.
“The Travelers’ Choice Awards for Restaurants honor travelers' favorite dining establishments worldwide,” TripAdvisor explains. “Based on a full year of TripAdvisor reviews, these restaurants were consistently given high ratings and praise by diners across the globe. Award winners were determined by factoring in the quantity and quality of reviews, gathered over a 12-month period.”
TRB Hutong, the recipient of the number one place on Trip Advisers Travelers Choice Award in 2015 and 2016 is located inside a historical Temple courtyard that dates back to the Qing Dynasty. The space has been transformed by the Australian architectural and design firm Hassell, to a contemporary and minimalistic setting where they serve European cuisine.
The Epicure in Paris is a three Michelin star restaurant helmed for 20 years by Eric Frechon. They serve a tasting menu that includes caviar, potatoes gnocchi with white truffle and brown butter. macaroni stuffed with black truffle, artichoke and duck foie gras, and hen poached in a bladder.
Ristorante Villa Crespi is owned by chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo and situated in the historic villa on the shores of Lake Orta in northern Italy. It serves upscale, nuanced Italian cuisine such as sea bass, borlotti beans, tagliatelle and roasted baby pork.
