The Michelin Italy 2019 Guide has been released today during a ceremony in Parma, with the biggest news being that a new three-star restaurant has made the top rankings on the list.
Chef and restaurant owner Mauro Uliassi bounded on stage visibly excited to receive the accolade for Uliassi. The seaside restaurant located in Senigallia in Marche on the East coast of Italy awarded by the guide for its "unique cuisine that combines the maximum of tradition with the maximum of technology." A crowning moment for the brother and sister team who first opened the restaurant in 1990 and had held two stars for nearly a decade.
There were also an impressive 29 new one-star restaurants making the list, but no new two-star restaurants to report.
That now brings Italy up to a total of 10 three-star restaurants, 39 two star restaurants and 318 one star restaurants, meaning the country owns a combined total of 367 stars, second only to France.
