Focus also saw a strong foreign presence (new in 2017) in three geographical areas: the Principality of Asturias (Spain), curated by Monica Alvarez Careaga, Brazil, curated by Denise Gadelha, and Hungary, curated by Art Photo Budapest.

Many awards were handed out, including the MIA Code, which was conceived and curated by Enrica Viganò with the intention of promoting mid-career photographers. Now in its fifth edition, this year's award went to Davide Monteleone, Italian photographer of international fame.

With projects or individual images, there were also many food-inspired photographs on display, such as the X-ray images of Thierry Radelet, the still life paintings of Michele Ranzani, studies in black and white that Mario Cucchi made on several items and the famous camouflages of Liu Bolin.

Here we offer a selection of works that we have chosen for you. In impatiently awaiting the 2018 edition, enjoy the photo gallery!
