Chris Lowder knows drinks. The Baltimore-born bartender has mixed drinks at the likes of Booker & Dax and The NoMad Hotel in New York, and can now be found heading up the various bar programs at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul.
Would you like to pick his brain for the perfect Manhattan or the ultimate daiquiri? Well, now you can, sort of. Lowder has produced his own authoritative drinks manual and made it available to download for free via Facebook.
Writing a bar training manual or a house classic recipe guide can be a huge pain in the ass. Here's a link to freely...
Lowder’s Easy List of 178 (Modern) Classics to Know 2016 includes six drinks for each major spirit and various tips and thoughts on mixology and drinks culture, plus some historical titbits. Lowder told Munchies: "After spending ten years working in restaurants as a cook and a bartender, I have come to deeply value free education ... A more knowledgeable workforce means that more guests have a better experience when they dine out.”
He is quick to point out that the list is nowhere ner exhaustive, and doesn't even neccessarily cover the world's greatest drinks, rather it's a way to give drinks professionals starting out or even the enthusiastic home mixologist the base from which to experiment and grow, citing the poor quality of some of his early training.
