If there’s someone who knows a thing or two about dining in New York City it’s Daniel Humm. The celebrated chef of Eleven Madison Park (currently #4 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list) and the NoMad shared his top picks for dining in the Big Apple in a recent interview with Condé Nast Traveler.

“What people don’t think about when they think about New York is this amazing farmland that grows wonderful fruits, vegetables, seafood, game, and fowl just outside of Manhattan,” the chef said before dishing on his favorite spots for things like date night, upscale dining and weekend brunch.

Humm’s pick for a fancy dinner out with his wife is Daniel, the legendary New York restaurant run by none other than Daniel Boulud. For pizza, the chef hits up Franny’s because for their pies are made with the “best ingredients in the best way possible.”

For the best Japanese food in town the chef heads to Sakagura, a “hole-in-the-wall located in the basement of an office building.” Other Asian favorites include Mandoo Bar (for its dumplings) and Mono + Mono whenever he craves Korean fried chicken.

"For brunch on the weekends, I go to Russ & Daughters to pick up smoked fish and cream cheese—it tastes like New York,” Humm told CNT. If you are lucky you might just catch him eating his way through the city!
