SingleThread is flying the U.S. flag alone on the newly announced 51–100 list from The 50 Best Restaurants. The Healdsburg restaurant lands at No. 93 in the extended ranking, released October 21 ahead of the top 50 reveal in Lima, Peru.
The awards, formerly known as The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, have named restaurants across 36 cities and 25 territories in this year’s extended list. Italy’s Uliassi in Senigallia takes No. 51, followed by La Cime in Osaka at No. 52. Shanghai’s Ling Long arrives at No. 53, making it the highest-ranked newcomer in this half of the countdown.
Nine New Names to Know
Five of the nine first-time entries are in Asia: Ling Long, Singapore’s Seroja (No. 64), Seoul’s Eatanic Garden (No. 72), Bangkok’s Baan Tepa (No. 90), and Beijing’s Lamdre (No. 92).
The other newcomers are Nelita in São Paulo (No. 54), Eliane in Brussels (No. 86), FZN in Dubai (No. 88), and Khufu’s in Giza (No. 97). Together, they put nine different cities into the conversation.
Mexico takes five of North America’s six places, led by Alcalde in Guadalajara at No. 55. Huniik in Mérida follows at No. 79, alongside Arca in Tulum (No. 87), Rosetta in Mexico City (No. 96), and returning entry Fauna in Valle de Guadalupe (No. 99).
London’s The Ledbury also returns, at No. 83. Cape Town claims two places with Fyn (No. 65) and Salsify at the Roundhouse (No. 71), while Japan has five restaurants on the list, four of them in Tokyo.
The ranking comes from votes cast by more than 1,100 international restaurant experts. Under the voting rules, voters must have eaten at their nominated restaurants within the previous 18 months, and restaurants cannot apply for inclusion.
Still to come: the top 50 and the restaurant taking this year’s No. 1 spot. Those results will be announced November 4 at Teatro Municipal de Lima, with a livestream beginning at 8 p.m. Lima time.
