It seems we may well be smearing strawberry on our skin in the future after scientists have discovered they contain properties that block UVA rays from the sun.
The team of Italian and Spanish researchers published their findings in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry after testing the strawberry solutions in raditaion equivalent to the midday sun of summer.
As of yet the team have no plans for a strawberry sun lotion but they are now working to define exactly what it is in the strawberries that provide the sun protection so it can be isolated and put to further use.
