22 November, 2016
Michelin stars for Belgium and Luxembourg 2017 have been awarded, with Mosconi in Luxembourg City regaining its second star and nine new one star restaurants in Belgium.
Mosconi, which lost its second star in 2013, is the tiny country's only two star restaurant. It's existing 10 one star restaurants retainned their ratings, but no three star ratings were awarded.
The only three star restaurants in the region are Hof van Cleve in Kruishoutem and Hertog Jan in Zedlegem, both in Belgium, which both reatin their ratings. De Karmelit in Bruges, the only other three star restaurant in last year's guide is now closed. Overall, Belgium has 20 two star and 110 one star restaurants.
Belgium and Luxembourg also now have 165 and 7 Bib Gourmand recommendations respectively, awarded to restaurants offering great value for money.
Now a three-Michelin-star restaurant, Noma has changed, but not necessarily on the plate. According to Kenneth Foong, it's all about the way the team works, which is closer to a tech company than a traditional restaurant. Read our exclusive interview with Noma's head chef.
