The team at MAD have announced the launch of a MAD Grant, an initiative to bring 10 young chefs to Copenhagen to attend the MAD Symposium, taking place August 24-25. The grant will cover all travel costs, accommodation and the cost of the MAD ticket. To be eligible to receive it, applicants must be enrolled in a culinary school or be working at a restaurant, be under 30 years of age and have a good understanding of English.
Anyone wanting to apply should do so by filling in a simple application form on the MAD website by June 30th. The lucky 10 people will be informed of their successful applications on July 7th.
It’s another move from MAD to address the audience balance at the Symposium, creating more opportunities for young chefs to attend the event and learn - one of the main reasons it was first started.
Rene Redzepi, who organises the festival, was also in Mexico recently where he offered a special apprenticeship for two lucky students to be flown from Mexico to attend MAD and work at Redzepi’s Noma kitchen for a month - a restaurant that sits in first spot on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants List.
