Anthony Bourdain is turning a new page. On Monday, the final episode of No Reservations will air on the Travel Channel. The chef took to Tumblr to express his views on the show that made him a household name.
The finale marks the end of an era for Bourdain, as he prepares to host a new weekend travel show on CNN. Known for his dead-honest and controversial ways, Bourdain called the 140 episodes of No Reservations ''a mixed bag'' with some ''failures.''
''Responsibility for some failures rested entirely on me. They sucked because I sucked." He cites episodes filmed in Puerto Rico, Greece, Charleston, South Pacific and Marquesas as some of the biggest failures.
A self-deprecating Bourdain also took time to mention his favorite episodes like the time his crew visited Ferran Adria'selBulli, the black-and-white episode of Rome and his visit to Montana - which he confessed was an eye-opener for him.
"'It could be argued that for the last 8 or 9 years, Travel Channel has allowed me to make 140 wildly self indulgent home movies that only a few very close friends and directors of photography could be reasonably expected to enjoy. That it’s worked out for all of us remains a mystery for which I’m very grateful and proud."
