Following the success of London’s hippest meat hang-out MEATLiquor, architecture and design studio Shed has embarked on the next permanent incarnation: MEATmarket. This sister eatery to MEATLiquor extends across 70sqm and occupies a series of disused, fast-food outlets transformed into a meat-lovers paradise.
Situated in Jubilee Hall, Covent Garden, and in line with a design ethos which means that no two venues will look the same – meat market’s rich aesthetic is inspired by its bustling market surroundings and the interiors of a butcher’s kitchen. The space is brought to life through blood-red colour palettes, butcher block table-tops, lab stools, white tiles and red powdered, vintage school chairs.
This narrow restaurant was deliberately constructed to facilitate movement and eliminate queues, aided by the clear layout, hanging signage and oversized neon arrows set above the scenery. I love dust were commissioned by shed to develop the visual narrative.
