Gaggan in Bangkok is the winner of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2018 sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna for an incredible fourth year in a row: a speechless chef Gaggan Anand received the award to the applause of his peers at a packed Wynn Palace Cotai in Macao – "We have become a family" he announced.
But there was very much a feeling of a changing of the guard this year, with Den and Florilege, both in Tokyo, taking second and third spots respectively, with Bangkok's Sühring and Singapore's Odette also breaking the top five for the first time. The estatic team from Mume in Taipei celebrated jumping an incredible 25 places, the highest climber and one of three Taiwan-based restaurants on the list this year, while The Chefs’ Choice award went to Yoshihiro Narisawa.
