California added two new three-star restaurants on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, as the MICHELIN Guide unveiled its 2026 California selection during a ceremony at EVE in downtown San Diego. Californios in San Francisco and Enclos in Sonoma received the guide's highest distinction, while Kato in Los Angeles earned a second MICHELIN Star and nine restaurants joined the guide with one MICHELIN Star.
The 2026 selection also recognized three new MICHELIN Green Star restaurants for sustainability and added seven new Bib Gourmand recipients, bringing the full California guide to 521 restaurants spanning 54 cuisine types.
The annual ceremony brought chefs from across the state to San Diego, where they learned whether their restaurants had earned new MICHELIN Stars or other distinctions, including Bib Gourmands and Green Stars. California has been evaluated as a statewide guide since 2019 and remains one of Michelin's largest dining destinations in North America.
"As one of our legacy destinations in the U.S., California helped set the standard for exceptional dining experiences worth traveling for," said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. "This year is no different as California continues to be a pace setter for the industry based on our Inspectors' brilliant discoveries. Congratulations to the newest members of the MICHELIN Star family, including not one, but two new Three Starred restaurants, Californios and Enclos. A heartfelt congratulations to all of the chefs and restaurant teams represented in this year's selection for another tremendous year of achievements, which is representative of both talent and inspiration."
