Hotel breakfast is traditionally a hit-or-miss situation. Either you're stuck with a predictable in-house menu because it's convenient and you don't want to get dressed, or you're treated to creative egg dishes, house-made pastries, and standout savory specialties. The challenge is knowing which experience is in store, regardless of how high-end the hotel may be.
Fortunately, Los Angeles hotels have gotten much more serious about breakfast in recent years. As hotels invest in restaurants that can stand on their own, many of their once-overlooked morning menus now draw locals alongside overnight guests.
After reviewing more than 50 hotels across Los Angeles, here's my take on the city's best hotel breakfasts. And if you only remember one thing? Always order the huevos rancheros.
Sirena at The Georgian
This is not just one of the best breakfasts in Santa Monica, it comes with an ocean view to boot. The terrace overlooks Ocean Avenue and the beach beyond, perfect for a single-origin drip coffee or espresso while watching the Pacific wake up. Bring visitors here and impress them with a quintessential California breakfast: avocado toast topped with smoked salmon and poached eggs.
A strong by-the-glass wine list makes a convincing case for breakfast wine. A glass of Trebbiano Orange from Abruzzo pairs beautifully with the Evergreen Omelet with goat cheese and avocado or balances the richness of the Croissant French Toast Soufflé. If you want something more traditional, the Breakfast Sandwich is a standout, served on an English muffin with your choice of egg preparation and either bacon or sausage, plus a side of crisp fingerling potatoes.
