The Michelin Guide has announced its stars for Tokyo 2021, the most-starred city in the world, with two new restaurants with three stars, two with two stars, and 18 restaurants earning their first Michelin stars.
One of those new three-star restaurants, Sazenka, led by chef Tomoya Kawada, is the first Chinese restaurant in the city to receive the accolade; while the other three-star restaurant is L’Effervescence, a French restaurant that received two stars in 2015. Tokyo can now boast 12 three-star restaurants.
The number of two-star restaurants in Tokyo rises to 42, while the number of one-star restaurants rises to 158. Michelin also handed out six green stars for sustainability, including one to the new three-star L’Effervescence.
The Michelin Guide has published its listing for Washington D.C., with one new two-star and four new one-star restaurants. The Inn at Little Washington is the capital's only three-star restaurant. Take a look.
There are two main criteria to qualify for a Bib Gourmand - the food must be delicious, and it must cost less than a set amount for three courses. A Bib Gourmand restaurant offers comforting favourites at their very best.
