On the 4th February over 60 top chefs will be in Hamburg to attend the S.Pellegrino Kulinarische Auslese award ceremony, an event which highlights the top chefs and restaurants throughout Germany and Austria.
Winners of the Acqua Panna best female chef and best new restaurant will be announced alongside awards for a number of other categories.
But Kulinarische Auslese is more than an award ceremony. Since 2000 they have combined the results of seven top culinary guides to publish an extensive list of the best restaurants in Germany and Austria.
Michelin, Gault Millau, Varta, Der Feinschmecker, Schlemmer Atlas, A la carte and Falstaff are all used to compile the list.
The event will be presented by the TV presenter Markus Lanz and this year will see all the results published on the S.Pellegrino Kulinarische Auslese App - a chance for people traveling through the two countries to have a list of all the best restaurants around them, the chefs who work in their kitchens and where to find a great place to dine.
Nominees for this year's best female chef are Douce Steiner and Sarah Henke with nominees for best new restaurant going to Schwingshackls in Tegernsee and Scharffs Schlossweinstube in Heidelberg.
Stay tuned for a full list of winners from the night.
