Called the Bokashi, it's an all in one composting system meaning meat, fish and dairy can all be thrown in the same pot. By using technology from Japan that employs microbes to break down and decompose food, the composting system does not smell.
Bokashi is a bran that is sprinkled on food when it's thrown away - this bran contains the prefect kind and amount of microbes to decompose the food. A 5 gallon bucket of food waste will take around 7-10 days to decompose.
Users are then expected to bury the rest of the waste in their garden for the final stages of decomposition - this could be an issue when trying to find space in small urban gardens but the fact that the Bokashi method cuts out the odor of composting makes it a great development for eco-friendly urban dwellers.
