Open Table, the online restaurant reservation-booking company, has released their annual list of the 50 Best Restaurants for Vegetarians in the US.
The list features the most popular veg-forward restaurants across the US, meaning the restaurant must simply "feature vegetables front and center, creatively presented with expert technique and serious attention to flavor" without being strictly vegan or vegetarian.
California dominates this year's list, with 16 restaurants, knocking New York into joint second place, with Pennsylvania, both featuring 10 addresses and in fourth place is Washington, D.C.with seven restaurants.
Other states that fared well included Florida with six and Illinois and Texas each with four restaurants featured.
Favourites like Amanda Cohen’s veg central restaurant Dirt Candy and Michelin starred Nix in New York made the cut as did Catch in L.A. and José Andrés’ Spanish inspired Jaleo in D.C.
The list is compiled on the analysis of 12 million verified diner reviews of over 30,000 restaurants, coast to coast across 20 states. While it certainly gives a good flavour of vegetarian hotspots, it's also worth keeping in mind that the list only covers restaurants that are listed on the platform, so shop around if you're new in town, you're sure to find even more vegetarian options.
