Located inside the iconic mid-century modern Richard Dorman building at 8899 Beverly Blvd, in the heart of West Hollywood’s Art and Design District, Stella represents an intersection of cuisine, art, and design. A creative collaboration between restaurateur Janet Zuccarini and chef Rob Gentile, Stella will offer modern twists on age-old Italian culinary traditions to Los Angeles, including house made pastas and locally-sourced, sustainable seafood.
Italian for ‘star’, the menu is inspired by the “traveling hearth” of the coastal and pastoral communities across Italy, specifically the regions of Sardinia, Marche, Calabria, Puglia, Genova, Lazio, Campagna, and Toscana – brought to life with seasonal Californian ingredients. Guests can expect dishes like Branzino Crudo, Woodfired Pizza Pinsa Alla Romana, and one of the world’s rarest pastas, Su Filindeu - translated to “Threads of God”. Complemented by a rotating selection of curated olive oils and an emphasis on collaborations with hand-selected vendors, the menu highlights elegant simplicity.
Stella’s designer, Wendy Hayworth, sought to bring the warmth and welcoming feel found in Old World Italian kitchens to life in the dining space, resulting in a modern interpretation of a classic Italian restaurant. The space is delineated into two levels. The upper space houses the main entrance with a large terrace featuring sliding glass doors which gives the room a light, bright appearance. Downstairs, Stella embraces the moody, subterranean environment with walnut-paneled walls and terrazzo floors. Private banquettes on both levels provide an intimate dining experience throughout the whole space. There are two private dining rooms available, one downstairs which also acts as a wine cellar, and another upstairs.
This venture marks owner, Janet Zuccarini’s second project in Los Angeles, following the success of renowned Felix Trattoria in Venice. She is excited to infuse new life into this iconic West Hollywood space.
