Claudine is an intimate, 26-seat tasting-menu restaurant on Weybosset Street in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Set in a historic building dating to 1912, the open-kitchen restaurant continues the address’s long connection to local shops and cafés. That sense of place is personal for co-owner and pastry chef Maggie McConnell, who was born and raised in Providence.
McConnell and her husband, chef Josh Finger, present a market-driven nine-course menu that changes frequently, sometimes nightly, according to the season. Rooted in classic French technique, their cooking emphasizes seafood and ingredients sourced from Rhode Island, throughout New England, and farther afield. The couple’s commitment to local talent extends beyond the kitchen through collaborations with regional artisans who create pieces including ceramics, water carafes, and floral arrangements for the restaurant.
Claudine opened in 2025 as the realization of a shared dream shaped by Finger and McConnell’s years in fine-dining kitchens. The restaurant adds an intimate, personal perspective to Providence’s growing culinary reputation. In 2026, the James Beard Foundation named Claudine a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant.
