Southern Smoke Festival, the annual fundraiser benefiting Chris Shepherd's Southern Smoke Foundation, will return to Discovery Green on October 3, bringing together nearly 100 chefs, beverage professionals, and hospitality leaders from across the country for an afternoon of food, drinks, live music, and culinary collaborations.
Presented by Sysco, the event serves as the primary fundraising vehicle for Southern Smoke Foundation, the national nonprofit that provides emergency relief funding and no-cost mental health services to food and beverage workers facing crisis. Since its founding, the organization has distributed more than $16.3 million in relief funding and facilitated more than 11,600 counseling sessions for hospitality workers across the United States.
This year's lineup includes some of the industry's most recognizable names, including Chris Bianco, Ashley Christensen, Aaron Franklin, Tiffany Derry, Nina Compton, Sarah Grueneberg, Tim Flores and Genie Kwon, Kevin Fink and Tavel Bristol-Joseph, Isabel Coss, Michael Schwartz, and dozens more. Houston's own culinary community will also be well represented, with Aaron Bludorn, Leonard Botello IV, Rebecca Masson, Manabu Horiuchi, Patrick Pham, Daniel Lee, Erin Smith, Patrick Feges, and many others participating.
In addition to food and beverage tastings, the festival will feature cookbook signings, cooking demonstrations on the YETI Culinary Stage, and a special gathering of Food & Wine's 2026 Best New Chefs, who will cook together publicly for the first time.
Tickets range from $225 general admission passes to VIP experiences and sponsorship packages, with proceeds supporting Southern Smoke Foundation's ongoing efforts to provide assistance for hospitality workers nationwide.
Founded by Shepherd and executive director Lindsey Brown, Southern Smoke has evolved from a local fundraising effort into one of the hospitality industry's most influential support organizations. The festival has grown alongside it, becoming a rare opportunity for diners to sample food from many of the country's most celebrated chefs while directly supporting workers throughout the industry.
