50 Top Pizza, the online guide created by Barbara Guerra, Albert Sapere and journalist Luciano Pignataro, has begun to unveil the first yeast scented prizes of the year, kicking off with the ranking of the best artisan pizza chains in the world 2021.
Pizzerias with at least five locations were included in the scope; with replicable artisan formats becoming a growing phenomenon, 50 Top Pizza wanted to recognise them with this dedicated an ad hoc recognition.
There are 20 brands present in the first edition of this special ranking, which awarded the Top World Artisan Pizza Chains 2021 - Latteria Sorrentina Award to Pizzeria Da Michele, at the top of the list. The historic Neapolitan brand has 19 restaurants around the world, including eight in Italy with the rest located in England, Spain, Germany, USA, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Japan.
In second place was Sorbillo, another champion of the art of Neapolitan pizza, which has several pizzerias throughout the peninsula, as well as in New York, Miami, Tokyo and Ibiza (recently inaugurated). In third position, we find France's Big Mamma Group, which boasts numerous pizzerias in its homeland, as well as in London and Madrid.
