‘The Bear’ is a new FX series on Hulu that follows a chef’s quest to breathe new life into a Chicago sandwich shop in order to make it a real restaurant.
Currently garnering rave reviews across the board, ‘The Bear’ stars Jeremy Allen White of 'Shameless' as young chef Carmen who inherits a sandwich shop and a ramshackle group of staff from his brother and resolves to "do a Ramsay" and turn the business’ fortunes around.
‘The Bear’ is not only being praised for the performances of the talented cast, but also for the realistic pressures facing restaurant owners, workers and chefs in today’s climate. With the stress on a permanent simmer from the get-go, the plot moves at pace, depicting the gritty realness and genuine passion found in a restaurant kitchen.
When Carmen takes the reins at his dead brother’s sandwich shop, he inherits a crew of swarthy, snaggle-toothed staff, who are not fully on board with his vision to transform The Bear into a ‘respectable restaurant’. Carmen, himself an experienced chef has to earn their respect and prove himself through hard graft to get them onside.
All episodes of the first season of ‘The Bear' are available to stream on Hulu and for those with a passion for food and restaurants, this is very much worth your time.
