A new app has launched to help travelers and wine lovers locate Sicilian wines. Developed by the Socilian Institute of Wine and Oli and The WineCode it lists over 200 cellars throughout Sicily were someone can find local wine. It comes in a number of languages and using GPS it lists cellars closest to the user first.
As well as providing information on each winery, their grapes, location and if they offer food, the app also offers users route suggestions and wine tours, offering a planned route with a few destinations to visit on their travels. It's a new way to discover different wineries in Sicily and our suggestion would be starting at the Donnafugata winery a place where FDL were lucky enough to enjoy a night time grape harvest.
