The Michelin Guide for San Francisco 2015 is now out with two new restaurants gaining the much coveted three star rating.
Benu and Saison have earned a place at top of the culinary ladder with their three star rating in the 2015 guide, joining Thomas Keller’sFrench Laundry and The Restaurant at Meadowood in the three star category for San Francisco.
The Acquerello restaurant run by chef Suzette Gresham earned a second Michelin star, while David Kinch’sManresa restaurant retains it’s second star despite a fire that closed the restaurant earlier this year - no restaurants lost a star from the 2014 guide.
Two new restaurants, both sushi, join the one star category, Kusakabe and Maruya.
With four three star restaurants now in the San Francisco area and 40 restaurants receiving stars in the guide, the area is cementing itself as an exciting gastronomic haven in the U.S, Michelin’s International Director, Michal Ellis, went as far as to say that the ’San Francisco Bay Area is becoming one of the most exciting and dynamic culinary zones in the world today.”
