Are you looking for a special celebration cake? Here are some suggestions...
Freed's Bakery
9815 S.Eastern Ave Las Vegas, Nevada 89183
Tel. 702-456-7762, Website
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, they usually say. True, but we can't help to spread the news of a bakery that creates IPod, bustier, Sponge Bob's shaped cakes. Freed's Bakery of Las Vegas, with a special space and schedule dedicated to the Cake Gallery, offers all sorts of design to celebrate pretty much whatever you want – yes, divorce, too.
Charm City Cakes
Website
A box of popcorn? E.T.? A human heart? At Charm City Cakes in Mississipi, where the motto is «You dream it. We'll bake it. You eat it», they will transform pretty much everything into a cake. They ship in U.S., Canada or Australia but you can’t visit their studio: they are too busy working for us.
Amazing Kakes
8711 Burnet Rd Suite A-10 Austin, TX 78757
Website
They picked the right name: in this design bakery set in Texas they are so serious that they don't ship their "creatures", they just deliver them within the state. A bit more classic than the others, they are still worth it to check out because carefully designed on the customer’s desires.
Cakelava
35 Kainehe Street, Suite 107-108, Kailua, Oahu
Website
You need to go a long way to find the craziest cakes ever: Cakelava is set in Honolulu, Hawai, and owned by husband and wife team Rick and Sasha Reichart. Rick has 20 years experience in pastry and cake design. Featured in many magazines, they prepare groom cakes (with DJ set, planes, shape cakes), wedding cakes, sculpted cakes that resemble perfectly sushi plates, dogs breeds, Snoopy and so on.
Eat Bakery
This goes a bit beyond what one might like to experience, but it's impossible not to include in the list one of the weirdest bakery on earth, the Eat Bakery in Potharam district, Ratchaburi provence (near Bangkok), Thailand. Kittiwat Aun-A-Rom is a baker who sculptures bread to look like a corpse. The idea came because his father, a baker too, was sick of brain tumor and he started to think about life, death, decadence, sickness. He then graduated in Fine and Applied Arts and made it a business, studying real corpses in Siriraj Hospital and reproducing them with bread. He uses the same ingredients you would use for bread, but he has a secret technique to knead and bake it. Certainly not an ordinary cake to bring at a dinner…
