A undisclosed collector has paid over $30,000 for just half a bottle of a rare Cognac.
The sale was held by the Old Liquors Collection which is owned by the dutch cognac collector Bay Van Der Bunt and was for a 1789 A.C Meukow and Co Cognac.
The buyer, not content with his rare half bottle, also purchased a 182-year-old Remy Martin Cognac which costs over $20,000.
The Old Liquors Collection is made up rare and vintage cognacs and is estimated to be worth a whopping $9 million.
Cognac is not the only alcoholic drink to fetch staggering prices. In July 2012 the world's most expensive whiskey ever sold at auction went for $460,000 - it was a single malt whiskey dating back to 1824.
