The Grey, run by Executive Chef Mashama Bailey and Managing Partner Johno Morisano, opened its doors in downtown Savannah, Georgia, in December 2014. The restaurant offers diners Bailey’s soulful, seasonal take on the food of the city and the South, informed by her upbringing in Georgia and New York, her training in the US and overseas, and her personal experiences.

Award-winning Executive Chef and partner at critically acclaimed restaurant The Grey in Savannah, Georgia, Mashama Bailey has been described by the Financial Times Magazine as “the most important chef in America.” Raised in New York and Savannah, she studied in NYC and Burgundy, France, before embarking on a culinary career that included four years at New York’s Prune with mentor Gabrielle Hamilton, who introduced her to current business partner Johno Morisano. Together they created The Grey in a former Greyhound Bus Terminal, a previously segregated building steeped in historical significance.
