The Best Restaurant Openings in New York – June 2026
From a historic Knicks victory to World Cup matches filling bars around the clock, New York City was electric in June. But it wasn't just sports fueling the city's energy. There were plenty of noteworthy restaurant openings across the five boroughs as well.
In recent weeks, a live-fire restaurant ignited excitement, while a fine-dining duo transformed their former space into a seafood-focused concept just in time for summer. The city also gained a soccer bar in Brooklyn from the team behind one of its most beloved taquerias, and it couldn't have arrived at a better time. Here are the seven most exciting New York City restaurants to open in June.
What happens when one of the city's most beloved taco spots opens a soccer bar at the height of the World Cup? Even more madness. That's exactly what happened when the Taqueria Ramirez team debuted Socceria, a soccer bar screening every match. Unlike most sports bars in the city, this one serves chilaquiles, sopes, and quesadillas alongside draft beer, with a massive screen so you won't miss a second of the action. As the city continues buzzing with World Cup energy through July, Socceria is likely to be one of the city's toughest reservations all summer.
Chef Andy Quinn and sommelier Cedric Nicaise spent a combined 15 years under Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park before opening The Noortwyck. Now they've gone even bigger with their second restaurant, Oriana, an eatery centered on wood-fire cooking. It's a more ambitious project, with dishes like a whole barbecue duck that requires pre-ordering, making it an ideal destination for summer celebrations in Nolita.
Chef Alan Delgado, who runs the ever-popular Los Burritos Juarez, is taking things up a notch with his latest project, Titán, which opened in mid-June. The Northern Mexican restaurant explores the region's diversity with dishes like oysters with marrow butter and fiery morita oil, along with large-format offerings like braised chile colorado pork chop, all served from an iconic DUMBO location with patio views of the Brooklyn Bridge. To level things up even further, Delgado partnered with James Beard Award nominee Ivy Mix to oversee the beverage program, which focuses on agave spirits, along with other regional Mexican distillates.
As summer arrives, New Yorkers head for the waterfront, though not always in the way you might think. A slate of dockside restaurants and bars from Crew Hospitality become regular summer hangouts. This year, there's a brand-new addition to the rotation. Fireboat has taken over a decommissioned FDNY fireboat docked along the DUMBO waterfront. With expansive views of the city, Caribbean-inspired bites, and crushable cocktails, it’s sure to be an instant summer hit.
Capitaine
Cody Pruitt and Jacob Cohen, the duo behind Greenwich Village's Chateau Royale, have debuted a seafood-focused restaurant in the space that once housed their first project, Libertine. With Capitaine, Pruitt and Cohen swap buttoned-up French fare for a menu inspired by oyster bars in Europe and closer to home in New York City. Expect an expansive raw bar, seafood towers, burgers, and other tavern classics to round out the menu.
New York City excels in nearly every food category, but for years, one advantage Los Angeles held was its abundance of great tacos and top-notch Mexican food. Those days are over. There's never been a better time to eat tacos in New York City, especially now that Tacos Domingo has entered the conversation. The Mexico City import narrows its focus to a single specialty: carne asada tacos served on fresh-made flour tortillas. Word on the street is they do it very well, and the standing-room-only East Village spot keeps the party going until 3 a.m. on weekends, making it an ideal stop for post-bar cravings.
The team behind the fine-dining Italian restaurant Marea has opened a more laid-back concept in SoHo. Led by chef Bill Dorrler, Piccolo MORINI puts pasta front and center with signature dishes like mascarpone-stuffed cappelletti topped with truffle and prosciutto, along with gramigna coated in sausage ragù. The dining room is vibrant, with bold patterned plates and colorful seating, but the liveliest draw might just be the $9 martinis served at the bar every night.
