The Best Restaurant Openings in Miami – July 2026
Technically a late-June opening, Katana arrived on Coral Way after 33 years in North Beach. The family-owned restaurant recreates the original’s distinctive setup, with color-coded plates of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes circling the counter on floating wooden boats. Diners select what catches their eye and pay according to the colors of their empty plates, bringing one of Miami Beach’s most enduring dining rituals to a more central part of the city.
The Rochester, New York, restaurant and whiskey bar Flight West has opened its second location on Sunset Drive in South Miami. Executive chef Juan Suazo, whose résumé includes KYU and Komodo, uses a Mibrasa charcoal oven to prepare shareable dishes such as anticucho-glazed octopus, roasted cauliflower with peanut sauce and jalapeño crema, and dry-aged ribeye infused with whiskey. The bar offers approximately 350 bottles spanning bourbon, rye, Scotch, and other whiskeys, alongside cocktails and wine.
Greek restaurant Manoli opened in the former Sereia space in Coconut Grove. Chef Emmanouil “Manoli” Aslanoglou trained at Michelin-starred restaurants Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in England and Arzak in Spain, also helmed the historic Vassilenas in Athens, and appeared on MasterChef Greece. His menu draws on Greek family recipes, with shareable dishes including dolmades, crispy feta wrapped in phyllo, house-made makarounes, lamb chops, and whole branzino. A tableside dessert trolley offers baklava, profiteroles, crispy cream custard, and other house-made sweets.
Takay opened on Coral Way with just 10 seats and two omakase seatings each night. Chef and founding partner Glen Kotlyarski, whose résumé includes Miami’s Michelin-starred Hiden, leads a 17-course menu rooted in Edomae sushi traditions and built around seafood flown in from Japan and seasonal produce from local farms. Japan-based architecture firm KTX designed the 800-square-foot restaurant, where guests pass through a Zen garden before reaching a hinoki counter beneath a wooden installation inspired by Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa.

Caracas Bakery has built its following on signature cachitos, buttery croissants, and artisanal sourdough loaves.
