Alta Adams is back, but not exactly as diners remember it. Chef Keith Corbin temporarily closed the West Adams restaurant earlier this year and reopened it with a reworked menu that still carries the soul of Alta while giving him more room to move and flex. The menu ranges from hamachi crudo and duck leg confit with black garlic mole to grilled chicken tagine and the kind of seasonal cooking that reflects where Corbin is now rather than where people expect him to stay. For a restaurant so closely tied to one chef's personal story and one neighborhood's identity, the reopening feels less like a reset than the start of a new chapter.

The Arts District continues its run as one of the city's best neighborhoods for new restaurant openings with the arrival of Brick Lane, a modern Indian restaurant from chef Sanjay Rawat. The menu leans into wood-fire and tandoor cooking with dishes like smoked butter chicken, charred sweet potato chaat, stuffed kulcha, and Hyderabadi mushroom dum biryani. It's polished without feeling overly precious and very much part of Los Angeles' current conversation around Indian food. Add in a full cocktail program and you’ve got yourself a night made for ordering too much.

After Atla's short run in Venice, Enrique Olvera's Casamata group has transformed the Abbot Kinney space into San Damián, a seafood-focused sister restaurant to Damián in the Arts District. Led by chef Chuy Cervantes, the menu is built around mariscos, with ceviches, tostadas, and coastal Mexican dishes that make perfect sense a short walk from the beach. It is still polished and very much part of the Olvera universe, but there's a looseness to the concept that feels right for Venice in summer.

Chef Eric Greenspan's Mish isn't trying to be a classic deli. Open now on La Brea, Mish takes the familiar trappings of a Jewish deli, including bagels, pastrami, babka, smoked fish, knishes, and kugel, and reimagines them through a contemporary Los Angeles lens. That means wood-fired, Montreal-inspired bagels, a pastrami Reuben on schmaltz-brushed rye, bagel dogs wrapped around all-beef hot dogs, and a bakery case from Dara Yu stocked with babka, rugelach, hamantaschen, and black-and-white cookies.

Pasjoli isn't new, but its new weekend brunch is reason enough to pay attention. Dave Beran, the 2026 James Beard Award winner for Best Chef: California, has added Saturday and Sunday brunch service to his Santa Monica bistro, giving the restaurant a slightly looser daytime register. The menu includes a little gem salad with comté and furikake, a cured trout tartine with roe and crème fraîche, a crêpe with beurre blanc, aged Parmesan, and caviar, and the obvious move: tartare frites with beef tartare, shallot, egg yolk, and fries. There is also a burger with cheddar, au poivre onion, marrow aioli, and fries, which feels like exactly the sort of thing one should be eating at 1 p.m. with a kir royale and no other plans for the day.

Silver Lake has a new neighborhood restaurant in Josephine, though “neighborhood restaurant” might undersell the ambition a bit. Opened by childhood friends chef Marco Gagliardi and Anthony Dragotto in the former Bowery Bungalow space, Josephine brings a Northern Italian- and French-leaning menu to a 1950s Craftsman just off Sunset Junction. In the dining room, there is a five-course supper menu built around whatever is coming through the markets; at the bar and on the patio, a more casual à la carte menu gives diners options. Recent dishes have included Santa Barbara scallops with sea bean beurre blanc, wild rabbit ragù with polenta, Parisian gnocchi with uni and tomato butter, and steak frites au poivre.

Bad Roman has landed in Beverly Hills, bringing New York’s high-gloss, Italian-American maximalism to North Canon Drive. The Quality Branded restaurant, which first opened in Manhattan, has taken over the former Palm Steakhouse space with a menu built for people who want dinner to feel a little like theater. There are roasted garlic babka, ’roni cups with ranch, eggplant pull-a-parm, shellfish towers, spicy lobster pasta, truffle cacio e pepe, and enough visual excess to make you forget the outside world. Beverly Hills has no shortage of expensive Italian restaurants. Bad Roman’s argument is just that one of them should be a lot more fun.

Tacos Royale brings Sonoran-style carne asada to Silver Lake with the kind of confidence that only really works when the grill is doing most of the talking. Open Thursday through Sunday evenings on Sunset Boulevard, the stand centers on mesquite-grilled beef, handmade organic beef tallow flour tortillas, and all the essential finishing touches from the salsa bar. In a city with no shortage of excellent tacos, Tacos Royale has quickly become one of the new names people are texting each other about before dinner.

Pizzeria Sei's highly anticipated move into a larger Palms location gives one of Los Angeles' most beloved pizzerias something it has long needed: space. William Joo's original Pico-Robertson restaurant earned its following through a near-obsessive attention to dough and experimental toppings, but the new Westside location allows the team to go even further. The expanded menu moves beyond the pies that made Sei famous, with multiple pizza styles, including Neapolitan, fried montanara, and thin Roman-style scrocchiarella, alongside a larger beverage program and a full dining room.
