The Michelin Guide has unveiled its star listing for Kyoto and Osaka, Japan, for 2023. Kyoto has two new two-star and three new one-star restaurants, while Osaka has eight new one-star restaurants. With new restaurants receiving recognition by Michelin inspectors, and many places retaining their stars, both cities maintain their enviable high culinary standards despite the challenges of recent years.
At Ryō-shō, helmed by chef Makoto Fujiwara, refined Japanese cuisine is served, augmented by Western ingredients. At VELROSIER, chef Yuji Iwasaki creates Chinese-French fusion dishes. All three-star restaurants - six in Kyoto and three in Osaka - retained their status, in this year's edition of the guide.
