This week to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in true FDL fashion we decided to take a look at the millions of food searches people make online during the festive period.
Using google insights we compiled a list of some of the most interesting trends from google searches during Thanksgiving, and the results were interesting to say the least.
What state is most likely to serve wine with their turkey, how important is orgnic turkey and which states are more likely to have Thanksgiving food delivered ? All that and more was answered in Thanksgiving 2.0.
This week saw the launch of the french foodie guide, Le Fooding 2012. Started in 2009 by two journalists the book has rapidly become one of the must have guides for those in search of foodie experiences throughout France with a particular focus on Paris.
Offering advice on some of the best places to eat, the guide has become one of the first places to notice foodie trends in France before they become mainstream. It's a must have for any serious foodie and that's why this week FDL held an exclusive video interview with one of the original founders of the guide, Alexandre Cammas.
The video was a great insight into the organisation and the driving force behind the guide - there was also a look at the recent Le Fooding application devised to bring the guide to phones and tablets around the world and a biography of Alexandre for those wanting to know more about the intriguing foodie.
Cakes that might just bite
Every now and again at FDL HQ we get some pictures, a recipe or a video that gets the whole office talking and this week brought one of those moments as we saw, for the first time, the work of the exciting food designer, Scott Hove.
The piece focused on Scott's latest exhibition 'cakeland' which included gigantic, colorful cakes with fangs - taking the phrase 'sweet tooth' to a whole new level.
FDL travelled to a zen retrait in the Japanese mountains, an ancient monastery in France, a hotel in the heart of Rio de Janeiro and an imperial retreat on stilts in Tahiti - all in search of fine dining and wellness.
