A Slice of Haven
This week at FDL we kicked off our culinary line up with a tasting tour of New Haven, Connecticut. The city's sole claim to fame used to be Yale University but the campus town has evolved into a dining destination that serves some of the best pizza in the country.
A visit to Little Italy is a must so you can savor pizzas from Sally's and Pepe's then decide which locale you like best. For dessert, you'll find fantastic Italian ice at Libby's.
Are you hungry yet? Here's the full scoop on tasty New Haven.
Nice Ice Baby
After visiting New Haven our palates wanted to cool off from this sweltering summer heat. That's why we brought you a list of the best places to enjoy popsicles around the globe.
It's a list that begins with a bit of ice cream history - for instance, did you know popsicles were only invented about 100 years ago?
It's fascinating to see how the trend has evolved. Now, you can enjoy a great array of popsicles anywhere from Russia to Tennessee.
Italian Happy Hour
We ended the week wtih a look at Italian happy hour, which the locals refer to as aperitivo.
The tradition of aperitivo isn't confined to 'a' happy hour, instead it's an evening event where you gather with friends at a local bar to enjoy cocktails, wines, beer and aperitifs, along with complimentary small bites to eat.
Writer Noah Charney breaks down the apertivo basics so you know what to drink when you visit the Old Country. Grappa, anyone?
