When Relais & Châteaux began in 1954 with eight individual properties in France banding together along the scenic route going from Paris to Nice, the ultimate expression of our association was linking them in a Route du Bonheur - a road to happiness. And so it continues today.
Each property is a superb reflection of its immediate surroundings, and each is a wonderful “base camp” for excursions delving into the character of a region. At the same time, all of the properties are linked to the others in our association so they can serve as a stepping-stone in an ever-expanding voyage of discovery that spans the globe.
You may find one place that is truly yours: a destination of choice that becomes a singular or regular part of life’s journey. Or you may choose to follow a suggested Route du Bonheur as a way to discover and savour the true character of a new part of the world. Or you may map your own journey of discovery around the world.
However you choose, you will find that the world of Relais & Châteaux is an experience of place made richer through its people, and an experience of people unique to their place. There is no better way to discover the world.
