Ever wondered what food the VIPs to eat at all the glitzy award shows? Well as the world tuned in to find out which celebrities Ricky Gervais would insult and discover what TV shows and movies would receive Golden Globes in 2012, so did FDL, but it was the 'golden' food that interested us.
Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman and Frieda Pinto were just some of the 1,300 guests served a lavish dinner to celebrate this year's 69th annual film and television awards. The Globes is attended by some of the world's biggest celebs and the food on this year's menu certainly matched the glamour. Three special courses, developed by the executive chef Suki Sugiura and the executive pastry chef Thomas Henzi from the Beverly Hills Hotel, were served at the event:
1: Pistachio crusted pistou ravioli with wild arugula served with smoked tomato, kabocha compote and burrata.
2: A double-entrée of Miso-and-sake lees-marinated Pacific sea bass with grilled king oyster mushrooms. And braised prime short rib of beef with porcini pine-nut herb ragout and a light cream of sherry-wine ginger-tamari sauce, roasted fingerling potatoes, candy-strip beets, baby bok choy and yellow baby carrots (in the picture).
3: And for dessert, a chocolate delice, almond crunch terrine, garnished with acacia honey, caramel and fresh berries" and sprinkled with edible gold flakes.
It's the dessert that's grabbed the headlines, devised over 6 months and prepared by 40 chefs, the chocolate delice was garnished with gold costing around $135 a gram. It was paired with a Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2002, created specifically for the night.
We're trying our best to get an invite for 2013 so we can tell you how the food tastes but we’re not holding our breath. For now you can see a full collection of pictures from the dinner at The Huffington Post and a full list of winners on the Golden Globes site.
