Sushi rolls just got a lot prettier thanks to a new way of laser cutting intricate patterns into the seaweed that’s often used to wrap rice.
Design Nori is a creation of the Umino Seaweed Shop and the finished product is a perfect sheet of seaweeds that feature a range of different designs.
The designs are made using a special kind of seaweed that’s thicker than most varieties and can withstand the process of laser cutting. Each design is is based on an element of Japanese symbology with fortune, luck, beauty, happiness, and longevity all featured.
Rather than just being faux-meat, Mamu is different. It's a mushroom-based meat alternative that's getting its launch in restaurants so that chefs can test its versatility. Flora Tsapovsky investigates.
