In an interview with Bloomberg's Businessweek the CEO and founder of YELP Jermemy Stoppelman has said that the online reviewing site, originally founded as an online yellow pages, actually happened by accident.
He explained how the original plans for Yelp had never factored in user reviews, saying: "people aren't just going to write reviews for fun, that's crazy. We literally thought, 'That's a terrible idea.'"
