The IDIC was born to help promote traditional Italian cuisine and since 2008 has celebrated a range of classic dishes such as Spaghetti alla Carbonara and Risotto alla Milanese and more recently Tiramisu.
For 2014 the dish chosen by the IDIC is the much loved Italian dish of spaghetti with tomato sauce.
Rather than just being faux-meat, Mamu is different. It's a mushroom-based meat alternative that's getting its launch in restaurants so that chefs can test its versatility. Flora Tsapovsky investigates.
