Brae, one of Australia's most exciting dining venues, located in a tiny town in Victoria, has topped a list of the 100 best restaurants in the country at the Australian Financial Review's Australia's Top Restaurants awards.
The list, voted for by Australian chefs and restaurateurs, was revealed at a ceremony in Sydney. Brae, which is also currently at number 44 on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, sits on a 30-acre plot of land in Birregurra, two hours drive from Melbourne – land that is largely given over to the restaurant's garden.Take a look at some of the dishes here.
In second place was Ben Shewry's Attica in Melbourne, while Sydney's Ester came third. You can see the full list here.
Brae's Australian chef-owner Dan Hunter, who also picked up the award for best chef, recently told us how he fell into cooking quite by accident whilst travelling England.
Hunter also recently released a cookbook of modern Australian recipes that is well worth checking out.
