Earlier this year Brazilian chef Alex Atala was invited to be a speaker at the 2013 Design Indaba conference held in Cape Town, South Africa.
It was an ocassion for the chef to share his passion for local ingredients and culinary creativity, all of which was captured in these videos below.
In the first video, you'll see Atala address the crowd during his speech on why the human relationship with food is ripe for change. The chef also speaks about problems like deforestation in the Amazon and food waste.Â
''I really believe that being a chef, cooking everyday, can be an amazing support for environmental conservation. The human relation with food must be revealed.''

In this next video you'll see Atala visit his friend  Margot Janse, chef of the Relais & Chateaux Le Quartier Francais boutique hotel.
To watch these two chefs from completely different parts of the world walk through a garden and bond about the beauty of fresh herbs and local ingredients is just inspiring.Â
