The Association of Food Journalists has announced a list of the nominees for its annual awards, which will take place on on September 11th in Memphis, Tennessee. The awards are divided in 13 categories that honor the fine work of food journalists across the United States.
All eyes will be on the Washington Post, which is up for a total of five awards including two in the category for Best Newspaper Food Feature, above 350,000 circulation. Another leading contender is the Kansas City Star, which has been nominated in four categories including Best Restaurant Criticism.
The Houston Chronicle's Alison Cook received two nominations, one in the category of Best Restaurant Criticism and the other for Best Newspaper Food Feature, above 350,000 circulation.
It's interesting to note all nominees in the category for Best Restaurant Criticism are female. Aside from Cook, they include Jill Silva from The Kansas City Star and Vanessa Wolf from Maui Now.
